When Damenbart split in fall 1972, they were in the middle of recordings for their 2nd LP, but being unable to control the studio equipment (due to a special mushroom therapy) the only thing that came out from these sessions was the19 minute trip of "Karma & Gnade" (which should have been side one of the LP), a beautiful, spaced out piece of Krautmusic. It starts off slowly with odd voices, flute and glockenspiel (played by the mysterious Tina S.), before Damenbart drift off to a more Amon Düül 1 like manic drumming that becomes more and more intense, until the guitar kicks in, mixes with strange droney tones to end up in thunder and lightning... Things get totally wild and out of control. One can hardly believe the intensity of the music… Damenbart is pure krautrock! If you liked their"Impressionen '71" LP, this is a must! |
